The 4711 House in Cologne-Ehrenfeld

The 4711 building in Cologne-Ehrenfeld was built as a factory in 1874. From the end of the 19th century, the renowned Eau de Cologne was produced in the former perfume factory.
The Second World War destroyed more than two thirds of the 4711 building in Ehrenfeld. After reconstruction, the building shone in new splendour – with a striking semi-circular warehouse and dispatch building as well as a new administration block. The Bremen blue glass panels and gold-anodised aluminium parts of the façades, which are reminiscent of the company colours, have a particularly strong recognition value.
In 1991, the company gave up its site on Venloer Strasse in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. In 1992, some parts of the former 4711 factory were placed under a preservation order. The new owner commissioned the architect Thomas Luczak to renovate the entire site in line with its listed status in order to integrate it into the Barthonia Forum.

Today, the building houses 136 furnished micro-apartments for students, professionals and anyone who loves flexibility and urban living.
