Life in Leverkusen-Opladen – urban in design, youthful in character and pleasantly relaxed

Neue Bahnstadt Opladen is one of Leverkusen’s most exciting development areas. Over the past few years, a neighbourhood has emerged here that seamlessly combines modern living, working and studying. Fakultätsstraße lies right at the heart of this district and feels open, well-organised and, at the same time, pleasantly quiet.
Opladen itself is a district steeped in history that is currently undergoing noticeable change. Old structures meet new ideas, established neighbourhoods meet young people who are moving here, studying or simply reorganising their daily lives. It is precisely this mix that characterises the neighbourhood and makes it so lively, without seeming noisy.

Studying and living close to home – everyday life that just works

A defining feature of the area is its proximity to the Leverkusen campus of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. Students are a natural part of the townscape here. You’ll see them in the morning on their way to lectures, in the afternoon in cafés, or in the evening on their way home. At the same time, the area doesn’t feel like a purely student neighbourhood. Working professionals, commuters and long-term residents of Opladen also shape the neighbourhood.
This makes everyday life pleasantly balanced. You don’t live in isolation here, but are embedded in an environment that is dynamic yet structured. Distances are short, routines are easy to plan, and much can be done simply on foot or by bike.

A neighbourhood with a new identity – modern, open and well thought-out

Neue Bahnstadt Opladen was deliberately designed as an urban neighbourhood. Wide paths, clear layouts and modern architecture create a tidy streetscape. Residential buildings, university facilities, offices and restaurants are situated close together without getting in each other’s way. Everything feels functional, yet not cold. Modern, yet human.
This character is particularly evident around Fakultätsstraße. The surroundings feel well-maintained, safe and uncluttered. It is clear that the planning here has been done with long-term use in mind, rather than just for immediate impact.

Green spaces and breaks in everyday life – a place to unwind

Despite the urban layout, there’s no shortage of green spaces. Small parks, tree-lined paths and open squares wind their way through the neighbourhood, offering plenty of opportunities for a quick break. You can sit outside, meet neighbours or simply use the surroundings to clear your head.
This is a real advantage, especially for people who study or work a lot. Everything is close by, yet there are still little havens of peace that make everyday life more relaxed.

Good transport links within the region – stay flexible on the move

Opladen is a major transport hub in Leverkusen and offers excellent connections to Cologne, Düsseldorf and the wider surrounding area. Opladen railway station is within easy reach, making commuting a breeze. The area is also well connected by car and public transport, offering flexibility whether you’re travelling to work, university or for leisure.
It is this combination of peaceful living and regional mobility that many people appreciate about this location. You don’t live in isolation here, but right in the heart of a region that offers a wealth of opportunities.

A neighbourhood in transition – open to new ways of living

What makes the area around Fakultätsstraße so special is its openness. People move here to start something new or to find a fresh direction in life. Students, young professionals, project workers, or people looking for flexible living arrangements. As a result, the neighbourhood is constantly evolving without losing its down-to-earth character.

You don’t live here anonymously, but as part of a neighbourhood that is evolving yet remains on a human scale. That is precisely what ensures you settle in quickly and can feel at home here in the long term.

We ask for your understanding and will endeavour to review all enquiries carefully and as promptly as possible.

  • How does the letting process work?
